The improved MicroTack revolutionizes tack welding of thin materials

Tack welding with Kemppi MasterTig

Prior to welding, structural parts are usually joined to each other by tack welding. Tack welding is often a laborious and time-consuming work phase and – particularly with thin materials – causes additional welding deformation. To tackle these problems, Kemppi has developed the MicroTack function in cooperation with its customers. MicroTack facilitates tack welding by reducing the time required and improving the quality of tacks, which results in higher work speeds also in the actual welding.

The MicroTack tacking function was developed for tacking thin parts made of various types of steels and titanium. The application area of the method starts with fine fabrication, and it can be used for thicknesses of up to 4 mm. The function is available, with improvements and new features, in all of the new MasterTig welding machines.
