Since commencing in 2020, the annual Kemppi Australia Art of Welding Competition has gone from strength to strength. The competition receives numerous entries from both professional and amateur artists hoping to be selected as a winner.

Welded for charity
A teenager's welding hobby often leads to a profession, but sometimes it can provide a better future for someone else. This happened to Janne Juntunen from Kajaani, Finland. For almost a year, he welded a custom motorcycle to be drawn as a charity raffle prize. The profit of the raffle will be used to support free time motor vehicle workshops for the youth, which often act as a kick-start to working life for youngsters aged between 14 and 21 years.

Welding Education Comes in Handy in Motorcycle Building
Olli Keskinen works as a welding instructor at Kemppi. His welding skills have proven useful when he builds motorcycles in his free time, but his hobby has also taught him new tricks that can be put to good use in his professional career. In the past, he has also participated in the MP Motorcycle Show in Helsinki, Finland at the same time as both an employer's representative and a hobbyist.

Welding safety has become increasingly demanding. The hazards at the arc remain constant, but modern working conditions mean exposure can accumulate over longer shifts and in tighter indoor spaces.
